What are the different courses a Physiotherapist can pursue in the United Kingdom?

Many times I get calls from students asking me which course has better career aspects? And, I always tell them that Physiotherapy field is a growing field and it has a vast scope.

Whether you want to return to your home country or you want to relocate to another country after pursuing your PG degree from the UK, you will always have an upper hand of having a PG degree from the UK over your competitor. This will make you stand out of the crowd, in every competition.



There are 3 types of categories who wants to relocate to UK on a student visa

  1. Freshers/ Newly graduates

  2. Experienced without Master's degree

  3. Experienced with Master's degree

Freshers/ Newly graduates


I would suggest to them to 'follow your passion'. Physiotherapy is a vast field, and it will grow continuously. Physios will be in demand forever. So if you opt for MSK, Neuro, Sports or any other field, you will get plenty of jobs offered after your PG degree completion. A PG course with a duration of 2 years will suit you the best.


Experienced PT without Master's degree


A) If you are a physiotherapist with an experience of more than 2-5 years but you do not have a masters degree, in that case you can choose a PG course with 1 years to avail 2 years of POST STUDY WORK VISA (PSW) after degree completion. You can also opt for a 1 year MBA course.


B) If you are a physiotherapist with an experience of more than 8 years, I would suggest you to go for an MBA course, and get into the management field.

Experienced with Master's degree


If your main aim is to relocate to UK in that case, either you can apply for jobs and we will help you prepare for the job interviews based on JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION or you can chose 1 year MPT/MBA course (based on your interest) to avail 2 years of PSW.

PG courses will give your career an extending skill set, update with current trends and a boost in your portfolio. If this is the case you should choose a course in a subject that is a natural progression of your existing skills and qualifications. If the aim is to progress further with your current/future employer, selecting a course that is relevant to your work is recommended. Discussing study options with your peers, colleagues or employer can help to determine what qualification will help with your career.

If you are from sports backgrounds, in that case you can choose either MBA in sports management or PG in sports physiotherapy. If you are an animal lover Veterinary physiotherapy is an untouched branch.
